Study options and course choice
If you are a secondary student planning to study accounting after you leave school, the simplest pathway to Associate membership of CPA Australia is to complete an undergraduate degree accredited by CPA Australia.
The CPA Careers website will help you find an accredited degree, and to select subjects that meet our core knowledge requirements.
The core knowledge areas are:
- accounting systems and processes
- financial accounting
- management accounting
- accounting theory
- commercial law
- economics
- quantitative methods
- finance
- information systems design and development
- auditing*
- taxation law*
- company law
*Students can complete studies in taxation and / or auditing in their degree or as part of the CPA Program.
If you have completed a non-accredited degree you will need to get a qualifications assessment. You may need to complete additional studies to meet our core knowledge requirements.
