About CPA Program
The CPA Program is a world class professional education program. Our Associate Members complete the CPA Program in order to reach CPA status. The CPA designation is internationally recognised.
The CPA Program is currently offered in the format of three compulsory and three elective units. Each unit is the equivalent of one semester unit of postgraduate study.
The CPA Program is offered by distance learning through our online learning channel, My Online Learning. With My Online Learning, you can access the CPA Program and professional development courses quickly and easily — anywhere, anytime.
Our Associate Members also complete the three year Mentor Program. The Mentor Program enables the development of practical workplace skills under the guidance of an experienced professional. To reach CPA status you must successfully complete both the CPA Program and the Mentor Program.
To successfully complete the CPA Program most candidates commencing from semester 1, 2007, will need to complete three compulsory segments and three elective segments within six years.
Compulsory segments:
- Reporting and professional practice
- Corporate governance and accountability
- Business strategy and leadership
Elective segments:
- Assurance services and auditing
- Financial accounting
- Financial reporting and disclosure
- Financial risk management
- Insolvency and reconstruction
- Knowledge management
- Personal financial planning and superannuation
- Strategic management accounting
- Taxation
- International business (available semester 2, 2008)
Examinations are held twice a year at more than 240 locations around the world. All exams are three hour, open book exams to reflect actual work practices.
The CPA Program can be carried-out completely in Malaysia, Singapore or Hong Kong, or by distance learning mode in other countries. You can complete the Mentor Program anywhere in the world, provided you are working at least 17.5 hours per professional accounting or finance role.
CPA Australia now makes it even easier to develop your knowledge and skills with the launch of a new online learning channel, My Online Learning. With My Online Learning, you can access CPA Program and professional development courses quickly and easily — anywhere, anytime.
Completing the CPA Program also has benefits for continuing your education. CPA Program graduates are eligible for credits in many postgraduate courses offered by higher education providers in Australia and overseas.
