What do CPAs do?

A CPA is a finance, accounting and business professional with a specific qualification.

CPA’s come from a number of backgrounds and industry types, including:

  • corporates
  • small to medium enterprises
  • public practice
  • government
  • not-for-profit organisations
  • academia and education

There are different types of membership with CPA Australia:

  • Associate members (ASA) who are undertaking the CPA Program
  • CPAs who have completed the CPA Program
  • FCPAs who have at least 15 years experience in accounting, finance or both and at least five years experience in a 'responsible' executive position relating to accounting or finance

The CPA Program is made up of compulsory and elective segments and also incorporates the practical experience Mentor Program.

Being a member of the CPA Program will enable you to continuously develop your professional skills and knowledge for career success.
